MEET KONNER

I have 2 boys, 17 and 16. Both are heart kiddos. We’ve had 6 open heart surgeries between the 2 boys. Karver is my oldest, and had OHS at 3 years old and 13 and 15 years old. My youngest, Konner is 16 and had OHS at 10 days old, 4 months old and 3 years old. Konner’s heart failure has been getting worse the last 2 years, and he got listed for a heart transplant in December. Konner was admitted into Mayo hospital in January as 1A status and will need to be here inpatient until he receives the perfect heart. They give us an estimate of 5-7 months waiting for a heart. Then we need to be here for 3 months afterwards. It’s a long haul. Theres so many emotions every day. Unknowns, fears, waiting, and staying healthy, mind, body, and soul.

Meet Quentin!

I went for my 20 week anatomy scan, and the doctor pulled me into her office and told me it looks like my baby’s heart was missing a pulmonary valve. Less than a week later I went to Nemours Children’s Hospital for a fetal echocardiogram. After 2 hours of looking at the heart on ultrasound, the cardiologist confirmed my worst fear, and diagnosed my baby with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia. I met surgeons, cardiologists, NICU doctors, neonatologists, and a new OBGYN team since I would be transferring care so I could be with my baby after birth. Quentin was born 4/1/24 at 4lbs 6oz and 18.5 inches long. He had his first open heart surgery on 4/8/24. Due to unforeseen complications, he’s had 3 surgeries total over the last 6 weeks. Last week they finally closed his chest and that’s one step closer to getting to hold him again!
